Before daylight on a cold morning the two-lane through Pilot is a pale line of frost between dark fields, and whatever fell in the night is still exactly where it landed. USS Logistics runs the snow and ice clearing here — plowing lots and drives, cutting walkways and entrances open, and spreading salt on approaches and steps before anybody starts moving.
