Martin & Son Tree Service

About Martin & Son Tree Service

You can see the knob from nearly every yard around Pilot Mountain, standing over the Surry County fields like a landmark set there on purpose. Martin & Son Tree Service works underneath it — the oaks and poplars along the Yadkin bottoms, the maples on town streets, the pines crowded up against a house lot. October is a working month: pruning while the leaves let go, trimming branches off the roof before winter, taking out what has gone hollow. When a storm crosses the ridge and lays wood across a drive, cleanup is cutting, loading and sweeping until nothing remains but a stripe of pale grass where the tree lay. Every job ends the same way, with a walk around the yard and one last look up.
