Carolina Scapes

About Carolina Scapes

At midday the square around the Granville County courthouse throws hard shade, and Oxford slows down inside it. Carolina Scapes keeps its own clock through that heat — mow, trim, edge, blow, move on — because a Piedmont afternoon rewards anybody who works in order instead of in a rush. The result is what the trade is really about: a lawn that lies flat and even, borders cut true, no clippings left riding the concrete. Yards here sit on clay that bakes hard by July and drinks fast after a thunderstorm, so a steady schedule keeps grass ahead of both. Across Oxford and the roads that run out from it, that regular return is what keeps a place looking cared for rather than caught up.
