Southern Lawns

About Southern Lawns

Late June evenings in Oak Ridge smell like honeysuckle off the ditch banks, and the heat finally loosens its grip somewhere around seven. Southern Lawns starts at the other end of that day instead, out at first light while the dew is still down and the mowing is easy on the grass. Mowing, string trimming, edging, and leaf removal when the season comes around make up the list, and none of it needs dressing up. The Piedbmont summer will grow a lawn shaggy in five days if nobody comes, which is precisely why somebody does. The pleasure is in the finish — one height across the yard, a line at the walk you could follow with your eye, and a driveway blown spotless.
