Hampton's Tree Service & Firewood

About Hampton's Tree Service & Firewood

Newport sits between the Croatan pines and the tidewater, near enough the sound that the air comes in salted and the live oaks lean the way the wind has always pushed them. Hampton's Tree Service & Firewood works the yards and lots along the river and out the roads toward the coast — pruning live oaks so they carry their sprawl, trimming pine limbs off a roof, removing what a wet Carteret County storm has loosened at the root. Hurricane season is the long test, and when it passes, storm damage cleanup means limbs pulled off the fence, wood cut and carried away, a yard swept back to something you can cross barefoot. There is real pleasure in the quiet at the end of that kind of day. Tree work here is mostly a conversation with the next big wind about what it will find.
