About MountainScapes

Late spring climbs these mountains a few hundred feet at a time — green in the Newland bottoms while Beech and Sugar are still bare, then a week later green all the way up. MountainScapes follows that green uphill, mowing the benched, terraced yards around cabins and hillside homes where flat ground has to be built rather than found. Every one of them cuts differently: a strip here, a bank there, steps and stonework to trim around, a drive that has to be blown clear down to the turn. Done right, a mountain yard doesn't fight the slope, it wears it well — even, clean-edged, sitting properly in its own view. Standing on one afterward with the ridges stacked blue to the horizon is a fine way to end a workday.
