By noon in July the Bypass shimmers and the mowers have already been running since seven. OBX Grass Cutters takes the wide open lots and the tight residential ones alike — mowing, string trimming along fence lines, edging drives and walks, then blowing everything back off the pavement before moving on. Heat like that means starting early, keeping blades sharp, and cutting high enough that the grass can carry the afternoon. Straight lines across a broad lot are their own kind of pleasure, especially seen from the road at speed. Around Nags Head that is the summer: five and six days a week of it.
