The first warm week of March turns Mount Holly yellow-green, pollen on the trucks and grass standing up in the yards like it never quit. Spencer's Lawn Care opens the season then, clearing what winter left in the beds and putting the first clean cut on lawns from the mill blocks out to the county roads. From there the cuts come around on a set week, with edging and trimming each time and the walks and drives blown down before anyone leaves. Mulch goes in when the beds are ready, the shrubs are shaped, and the leaves are cleared when the oaks finally give them up in November. Mount Holly, Belmont, Cramerton and Stanley are all part of the week.
