At sunrise the mist comes off the Catawba near the old Tuckaseegee Ford crossing and slides up into the yards along the bank. Catawba River Lawn Care starts there most mornings, mowing before the day gets heavy, running edges straight along walks and drives, and trimming close where the ground rolls down toward the water. The walks are blown off last, so the finish shows. Come fall the leaves are cleared out of the beds and off the turf, and in spring the mulch goes back down fresh and dark. The route follows the river through Mount Holly, Belmont, Stanley and Lowell.
