About South Mountain Landworks LLC

South of Morganton the land climbs into the South Mountains, and every road up there has a driveway on it that winter would rather keep shut. South Mountain Landworks LLC does snow removal on that ground — plowing drives and private lanes down to the surface, opening turnarounds so a truck has somewhere to go, salting the walkways and steps where shade holds ice long after the sun is out. Snow in these hills falls unevenly; a house on the north slope can be under it while the valley is only wet. The job is reading that difference, arriving early, and pushing the banks back far enough that the next storm still has room. A cleared lane running uphill through white woods is a good thing to leave behind you.
