About Woodchuck Tree Service

The Tar River bends slow and brown past Louisburg, and the big shade trees leaning over Franklin County yards have been leaning a long while. Woodchuck Tree Service works underneath them — pruning a canopy back into balance, trimming limbs that hang heavy over a porch roof, taking down what has gone hollow before a storm decides the matter. Summer here comes as a green wall of heat and then breaks open in an afternoon squall, and the morning after belongs to storm damage cleanup: the driveway opened, the split trunk cut into rounds, the grass combed clean of green tips. There is a plain satisfaction in that last pass, when a yard that looked like a wreck at daybreak looks like a yard again. Trees are the oldest thing standing on most places around here, and they are worth handling carefully.
