Lewis Fork sits where the Yadkin valley starts climbing toward the Blue Ridge, and the year up here comes in two clear halves. From spring into fall, Lewis Landscaping & Trucking keeps the mowing, edging, trimming and cleanups going on hillside yards where nothing is quite level and the grass grows hard after every mountain rain. When the cold sets in, the same trucks push snow off steep drives and gravel lanes, clear the walks and treat the icy pitch a north-facing slope holds until noon. Both halves end the same way: a place that looks kept, and a road up to the house that is open before anybody needs it. They work Lewis Fork and out around Purlear, Ferguson, Millers Creek and North Wilkesboro, with the Brushy Mountains along one horizon and Kerr Scott's water along the other.
