Before the first school bus makes the turn onto NC 24/27, the lots along it have to be open, and that is a job somebody starts hours earlier. JC Landscaping and Pine Straw plows and treats those approaches through Lees Township — entrances, aisles, loading areas — then works back through the neighborhood drives while the sky is still ink over the pines. Winter here is short and sharp: a hard freeze, a night of sleet, then a thaw that stiffens into something worse by evening, so the second pass matters as much as the first. Walkways get shoveled down to the concrete and salt goes where shade will hold the cold. The work runs across Lees Township and out toward Cameron, Vass, Carthage and the roads to Sanford.
