Paul Bruchon Lawn Care

About Paul Bruchon Lawn Care

Southeast Guilford County thins out into red clay and hay ground, and Julian sits in the middle of it — a crossroads of barns, hardwood edges and long gravel drives off Highway 62. Paul Bruchon Lawn Care takes these yards on their own terms: clay that bakes hard by August, then softens under a Piedmont thunderstorm that arrives from the west with almost no warning. Mowing, edging, trimming and cleanup, done so the boundary between a lawn and the field behind it reads sharp all the way from the road. There is a plain satisfaction in the last pass of an afternoon, when the light comes low across cut grass and the place simply looks finished. Ordinary work, and the kind that makes a country crossroads look tended.
