Farmers General Maintenance

About Farmers General Maintenance

Ashe County grows Fraser firs by the hillside, dark rows marching up slopes too steep for anything else, and in late September the light comes across all of it at a long angle. Farmers General Maintenance works the flatter ground below — mowing, trimming, cutting brush back off the edges, keeping a place in order month after month rather than once a year. There is real satisfaction in a field mown down ahead of the frost, in a fence line opened up again so you can see the pasture behind it. The work is general on purpose: whatever the ground needs to look kept. Around Jefferson and the farm roads running out from town, that is most of the calendar.
