By mid-October the ridges above Hothouse turn over all at once — poplar gold, sourwood red, and a low sun that makes even a tired yard look like something. Major Mowing, LLC spends that stretch on leaf cleanup and final cuts, moving the drifts off the grass before the first hard frost pins them down. The rest of the year it is weekly mowing, trimming around fence posts and sheds, edging where gravel meets green, and hauling the debris away so nothing sits and yellows. Mountain properties come with slopes, seep springs and rock ledges just under the sod, and each one gets cut the way it wants to be cut. Hothouse and the surrounding communities of Marble, Ranger and Culberson are the whole territory, and that is exactly the point.
