By late October the tulip poplars along the Eno go a flat, generous gold, and inside a week most of it is lying in the yards of Hillsborough. That is the season Comer's Tree and Lawn Care Services leans into: leaves raked out of the bed lines and off the turf, hauled clear, the last mows of the year taken low and even. Between the drifts there is still edging to hold and trimming to keep the fence rows tidy while the light shortens. A lawn cleared before the first hard frost comes through winter looking cared for rather than abandoned. The route covers Hillsborough and the wooded lots stretching out through Orange County.
