About Clean Cut Carolina

Red clay and green fescue make a handsome boundary when somebody takes the trouble to cut it clean, and that boundary is where Clean Cut Carolina does its best thinking. A June day in Hillsborough turns humid by nine, so the mowers move early and the edging follows: curb lines drawn rather than chewed, corners squared, the drive blown down to bare pavement. Trimming picks up what a deck can never reach, the tight ring around a light post or the strip behind a shed. The reward is standing at the street afterward and seeing a yard that looks intentional from the sidewalk to the back fence. They keep to Hillsborough and the flat farm country west toward Efland and Mebane.
