Yard Shield

About Yard Shield

Down in Sampson County the land lies flat and sandy and the light comes through longleaf pines in long stripes, so a lawn in Harrell is half sun and half shade, and each half wants something different. Yard Shield mows, trims and edges through the long humid stretch here, when growth barely slows between April and October and a week away shows on the ground. Out past the blueberry fields the Black River moves dark and slow under the cypress, and a yard kept crisp against all that sprawling green reads like a room just swept. The best part is the last look — a straight edge at the walk, clippings blown off the drive, the whole place cooling into evening. Come fall there is pine straw and leaf litter to move, and the round begins again.
