About Green Horizons
Grandy sits on the mainland shoulder of Currituck Sound, where wind crosses open water all afternoon and the sky takes up most of the view. Green Horizons mows and trims lawns that have to live with that wind and with sand not far under the topsoil — turf that browns quickly in a dry August and comes roaring back after one good soaking. US 158 carries everyone east toward the beach; this work stays home, holding the sound-road yards even and edged. There is a good hour near the end of the day when the sun drops behind the water and a lawn cut that morning goes nearly blue. Autumn brings down live-oak and loblolly litter, and that gets cleared too, ahead of the northeasters that would scatter it into the ditches.
