The Lawn Ranger

About The Lawn Ranger

Head south out of Franklin toward Otto and the valley narrows, the Little Tennessee running back the other way alongside the road. The Lawn Ranger is usually on that road at first light, coffee gone cold, the trailer ramp rattling over the bridge joints. The work is mowing, trimming, edging and cleanup, laid out across a route that takes in town lots and places well past the last streetlight. Grass on that end of the county greens up early and holds late, so the season runs long and the schedule stays steady. There is something to be said for a truck that pulls in before the dew is off and pulls out with the yard done.
