East Gate Gardeners

About East Gate Gardeners

By the middle of April, Fayetteville is dusted yellow — longleaf pollen on the porch rails, on the windshields, drifting in the gutters along Haymount's brick streets until the first hard rain rinses it away. East Gate Gardeners works that spring with mowing, edging and trimming, and the cleanups that clear winter's leftovers out of the beds before the crape myrtles leaf out. A first cut of the season is a real thing to see: the yard has a shape again, the walk has a line beside it, the mailbox stands in a tidy ring of green. Through the long green months that follow — and they run from March nearly to Thanksgiving here — the round comes back every week, same day, same hour. Fayetteville's older yards sit small and close together, and one kept well lifts the entire street.
