About Chris Barnes Hauling

Eden was three mill towns before it was one, and its streets still run downhill to where the Smith River meets the Dan. Winter mornings the fog lifts off that water and freezes onto everything above it — sidewalks in Leaksville, the long lots out in Draper, the alleys behind the storefronts in Spray. Chris Barnes Hauling clears those when snow comes, plowing drives and lots, hauling piles off where there is no room to stack them, treating the low spots that ice up first. River-town streets pitch toward the water, so the grade gets salted before anyone tries to walk it. By the time the sun burns the fog off the Dan, Eden is moving again.
