About Zweigle's Lawn Service LLC, serving Durham

Durham mornings come up warm and green, mist still lying in the low ground along Ellerbe Creek while the pines let their gold dust settle over every hood on the street. Zweigle's Lawn Service LLC keeps the yards of this Piedmont town — red-clay ground that runs cool and thick in fescue weather and grows fast enough in July to need a steady hand — mowing, edging, trimming and blowing the clippings off the walk before the heat sets in. There is a plain pleasure in a line cut straight across a Durham lawn: the stripe squared to the porch, the bed edges cut clean, the drive swept so the whole place reads cared-for from the sidewalk. When fall comes and the old oaks along the shaded streets turn loose all at once, the work shifts to raking, hauling and clearing until the grass can breathe again. From the blocks near Duke Forest out toward Hillsborough, Chapel Hill and the Research Triangle side of the county, it is the same work, done the same way, one yard at a time.
