Half of Mangum lives under trees — white oak, hickory, sweetgum — and a lawn beneath that canopy is its own problem, thin in the shade and buried in leaf litter by November. Tree Leaf Landscaping mows, trims and clears those yards through the season, letting light and air get back down to the roots. Edges are cut along beds and drives so the shape of a yard stays legible even after the canopy goes bare. The last pass of a fall afternoon has its own reward, the ground opened up and the smell of cut grass and leaves mixed together. The route takes in Mangum and the crossroads at Bahama, Rougemont and Timberlake.
