About Handy Home Guy

Deep Gap earns its name every winter: wind finds the notch in the Blue Ridge and comes through it hard, so snow that fell an hour ago has already moved somewhere else. Handy Home Guy plows the drifted drives up here, shovels steps and walkways, and salts the north sides where the mountain shade keeps ice long after the sky clears. At this elevation the storm total is only half the story — the drifting is the other half, and a drive cleared at noon can close itself by dark. That is why the second pass matters as much as the first. There is real satisfaction in a Watauga County driveway held open from the first flake to the last thaw.
