The Lawn Ranger

About The Lawn Ranger

June light holds on here past eight o'clock, and there is a stretch near the end of the day when the low sun rakes across a fresh-cut lawn and every stripe stands straight up. The Lawn Ranger works toward that hour: mowing, edging, string trimming around trees and play sets, weed control in the beds, and a clean sweep of the driveway before the truck pulls away. Yards over near Roosevelt Wilson Park take hard use from kids and dogs, so the deck goes up a notch to keep the turf tough through the heat. Rolling out of a finished street with all the lines running the same direction is its own quiet payoff. Next week it grows back, and that is fine — that is the job.
