About Carolina Landworks LLC

Winter storms announce themselves days ahead in this part of North Carolina — a shape on a map, a run to the grocery store, then a long evening of watching the sky over Cross Roads make up its mind. Carolina Landworks LLC spends those nights awake and moving, plowing commercial lots while the parking lines are still buried, clearing driveways so the first car out does not have to guess, and salting the surfaces that will refreeze after dark. Headlights on falling flakes, an amber beacon turning slow circles on an empty lot, the steady business of pushing white back to the curb: quiet, unwitnessed labor. Come morning nobody sees the storm, only the open ground where it used to be. That is the whole point.
