McPherson's Lawn Care

About McPherson's Lawn Care

Burlington began as Company Shops, a town built around a rail yard, and the trains still measure out the afternoon downtown. A June noon here is bright and heavy on the brick, and out in the neighborhoods McPherson's Lawn Care is on the third yard of the day — mowing, running the string trimmer down the fence lines, edging where the sidewalk meets the grass. The work has a cadence like the freight does: same route, same care, week after week, until a lawn holds its shape on its own. Clippings come off the walk before the truck moves on. A small thing, but it is the part people notice from the porch.
