Black’s Home and Lawn Care

About Black’s Home and Lawn Care

Barkers Creek runs down its own narrow valley to meet the Tuckasegee, and when snow comes to Jackson County it settles in that bottom and outlasts the melt everywhere else. Black's Home and Lawn Care starts at first light on mornings like that, plowing driveways down to the pavement and cutting walkways wide enough for two people to pass. The work is measured in small mercies: a car that backs out without spinning, a mailbox anyone can reach, a set of front steps sanded before the day begins. Storms here can turn to rain by noon and back to ice by dark, which is why the shovel and the salt bucket come out at the end as well as the beginning. It is plain work, and the road in front of the house shows it.
