Green River Tree Works

About Green River Tree Works

Asheville gets its winter by elevation: rain in the river bottoms along the French Broad, wet snow at Beaucatcher, and a real accumulation up the coves where the road keeps climbing. North-facing driveways here can hold pack for a week — the sun never gets a proper angle on them, and the mountain shade does the rest. Green River Tree Works works those grades through the season: plowing steep drives and lots, clearing walks and turnarounds, and cutting in traction where a switchback would otherwise be impassable. Opening a mountain driveway so somebody can get down to town is a genuinely good morning's work. From West Asheville out toward Swannanoa and Weaverville, that is the winter routine.
