About White River Excavation

Down where the willows crowd the Bitterroot River's old channels, the ground stays soft and low, and the properties tucked in among them flood a little every spring and freeze solid every winter. White River Excavation digs foundations and ponds out there most of the year, so the crew already knows which driveways sit on fill and which ones sit on the river's old gravel bars — useful knowledge when a plow blade meets a hidden culvert lip. Heavy, wet snow off the Bitterroot Range tends to collect first in these low spots, well before it sticks anywhere else in town. The equipment that moves dirt in summer pushes that snow just as easily, clearing a straight path from the willows back out to the county road. A driveway open to bare gravel, with the river running gray and cold just past the fence line, is a good way to start a January morning.
