The cottonwoods along the Bitterroot River drop their leaves early and stand bare for most of the winter, but a wet, heavy snowfall can still load their branches enough to bring one down across a driveway overnight. Graves Tree Service works those river-bottom properties with a chainsaw as often as a plow blade, clearing the downed limb first and then the snow underneath it. It's a different kind of winter call than most — half tree work, half driveway work — but the valley's cottonwood-lined lanes need both. Once a branch is off the ground and hauled clear, the plow can finally get a straight pass down to the garage.
