There's a point of land on Somers' side of Flathead Lake where the shoreline juts out just far enough to catch wind off open water from three directions at once, rimming the rocks there with ice well before the rest of the bay follows. Wave Point Property Solutions clears the driveways and access lanes serving that stretch of shoreline, timing much of the work to clear, cold nights when the wind off the lake finally drops and a plowed lane has a real chance of staying open until morning. The Swan Range and the Mission Mountains both show up as distant black shapes from out on the point on those nights, with more stars overhead than the lights of Kalispell down the shore ever let show closer to town. Ice built up along the point's rocks doesn't reach the driveways directly, but the same cold that forms it hardens any packed snow left on a lane into something a plow blade has to work at rather than simply push. Most nights the last stop on the route is the point itself, driveway cleared and headlights swinging back out toward the rest of Somers.
