Fog sits low over Somers Bay most winter mornings, thick enough to blur the Flathead Lake shoreline before it burns off and the Mission Mountains snap back into view across the water. Helke Construction clears driveways and lake-access roads through that fog, working the loop of streets that once served the old lumber mill and now serve homes tucked close to the water. Flathead Lake rarely freezes solid enough to change how the plow routes run, but the damp lake-effect snow it produces is heavier and wetter than the powder falling twenty miles inland, and it takes a slower pass to push clean. By the time the fog lifts and the Missions are fully visible again, most of Somers' shoreline driveways have already been cleared once, with a second pass planned if the lake keeps feeding the storm through the afternoon. It's a wet, heavy kind of winter work, paced to a lake that makes its own weather more than to any forecast.
