Philipsburg's Main Street still runs between the same false-front buildings it had when the mines were working, and Klein Jesse R clears the driveways and walkways tucked behind those old storefronts and up into the neighborhoods climbing the hillside above them. Steep driveways that catch the shade of the Flint Creek Range hold their ice longer than the street below, so those get plowed first and most often, scraped back to gravel and sanded before the first car of the day tests it. Walkways get shoveled clear, and the snow along fence lines gets pushed back so it doesn't drift shut by morning. The mountains ring the town close enough that the sun clears them late and sets behind them early, and the routes get run with that short daylight in mind.
