The Gallatin Canyon holds its cold well past sunrise, and even in July the first pass of the day cuts through grass still beaded with dew. Big Sky Groundskeeping mows the yards that sit under Lone Peak, where a lawn gets only a handful of green months and every one of them is worth tending. The week is mowing, string trimming, edging and seasonal cleanup, laid down in stripes that follow the run of the slope. By the time the canyon warms and the river below turns bright, the clippings are cleared and the borders read as straight lines again. It is plain work done in a place where everything else looks enormous, and it leaves a yard that plainly looks looked after.
