South of Libby, where the timbered slope rises steep enough that houses get built on cut-in pads rather than flat ground, Noble Excavating knows every one of those driveways by its particular grade and its particular headache. A hillside lot doesn't drain snow the way a flat one does: it holds it, packs it, ices it, and clearing one right means starting at the top and working the blade down instead of the other way around. The crew treats each of those cut driveways as its own small project, scraping to bare dirt or gravel and pushing the snow well off the downhill edge where it won't slide back across the drive. Leaving one of those steep approaches clean and gripped, knowing the alternative is a truck sliding sideways into the trees, justifies every extra minute it takes. It's meticulous work suited to ground that was never flat to begin with, on a slope that looks down over the rest of the valley.
