Havre wakes up slow in the winter — brick storefronts along First Street dark until someone flips a sign, grain elevators standing white-capped against a sky that hasn't decided if it's morning yet. Myers Construction is out ahead of most of that, plowing the lots and walkways downtown so the street is passable before the first customer tries the door. The rail yard nearby keeps its own schedule regardless of weather, and the crew works around that rhythm, clearing what needs clearing while trains still move through the cold. There's a plain kind of pride in a downtown block opened up before anyone else is out and about, footprints in fresh snow replaced by a plowed, walkable street. The hard part of the morning is finished before most of downtown has even had its coffee, streets and walkways open well ahead of the day's first customers.
