The Milk River runs low and half-frozen through the bottom north of Havre, its cottonwoods rimed white by the time the first real cold snap hits. MB Excavating brings the same heavy equipment it uses for dirt work to the job of moving snow — driveways, lots, and access roads pushed clear with machines built to handle more than a shovel ever could. Wind off the flats can drift a farm lane shut overnight, and getting a loader out to open it back up before chores start is its own kind of race against the morning. The work runs quieter than summer, just diesel engines and the scrape of steel on packed snow instead of the clatter of a jobsite. By the time the valley fog burns off the river bottom, the routes are open and the day can actually start.
