Frenchtown sits low in the Clark Fork valley west of Missoula, exactly the kind of bowl where a winter inversion likes to pool, and on the mornings the fog sits thick over Frenchtown Pond, the frost it leaves behind can be harder to move than the snow itself. Twin Lakes Dirt Works runs equipment built for moving ground in every season, and in winter that means driveways, yard pads, and the long approaches to houses set back in the timber on the valley's north-facing slopes, where the sun barely reaches some lots from November to February. The old mill town's streets sit close to the river bottom, and a heavy wet snow off the Bitterroot side of the sky can layer up fast against the cottonwoods before it ever reaches Missoula proper. Clearing a lane through that bottomland draws on the same equipment and the same eye for grade that shapes a yard the rest of the year. Frenchtown holds onto its winter fog longer than the hills around it let go of theirs, and the work here is built to match that pace.
