About Lawn Ranger MT

On a Saturday morning in July, with Flathead Lake flat and the boats already out, Lawn Ranger MT is working through yards above the south shore at Polson. Mowing, edging and trimming, one lawn at a time, on the Flathead Reservation where the water keeps the nights mild and the cherry orchards run back up the shoreline behind town. There is an art to the last pass — the one that sets the stripe and squares the corner against the walk. Fall brings a different job: cleanup, leaves, beds cut back ahead of the first hard frost. The work is ordinary and the result never quite is, a yard that looks glad to be looked at.
