About Javier's Lawn Services

Fairview sits right on the state line, close enough to North Dakota that the beet trucks and grain trains barely notice the border, and the wind that comes down from Canada in January doesn't either. Javier's Lawn Services works those flat miles between snowstorms, clearing driveways and walkways on the town's quiet grid streets before the roads crew even gets the highway scraped. Out past the old lift bridge the fields run level to the horizon, and a fresh snow there looks like it could bury a house whole, but it's the short stretch from a front door to a parked truck that matters most on a five-below morning. There's a rhythm to it — shovel the walk, clear the drive, move to the next block before the next front comes through — that fits a town this size and this flat. Fairview keeps its own pace against that open sky, and a cleared path home is a small, real part of getting through the coldest stretch.
