Holden Excavating runs the same equipment that moves dirt all summer, so a foot of snow on a Columbus driveway is nothing the machines can't handle by breakfast. Cottonwood bottoms and sandstone rimrock keep the wind honest here, funneling storms down off the mountains and across the county road grid, and this crew works ahead of that wind rather than behind it. There's a particular satisfaction in a driveway scraped to bare gravel while the rest of Stillwater County is still buried, in a loading dock cleared before the first truck rolls in.
