The sandstone on the old Yellowstone County Courthouse and the brick warehouses along Billings' downtown blocks were laid by hand, one course at a time, and Waddington Masonry spent its warmer months doing that same close, exacting stonework before the plow blade ever came out. Now the company spends winters plowing driveways and clearing lots throughout Billings, the same patience that goes into fitting stone into a wall going into getting a driveway scraped clean down to the pavement. There's a natural link between the two trades, both about getting a surface right rather than close enough. The crew works residential driveways and commercial lots through the season, treating a plowed lot with the same finish they'd want on a finished wall. It's a company built around foundations, whether that means stone fitted to outlast whoever laid it or a driveway cleared for one more morning.
