About Big Sky Dirt Works and Excavation LLC

On some winter mornings the Big Hole Basin ranks among the coldest corners of the lower forty-eight, the air so still and sharp that snow squeaks underfoot. Big Sky Dirt Works and Excavation LLC turns its earth-moving work toward that snow, plowing open long lanes and driveways across this high mountain valley. The basin sits more than a mile up, ringed by the Pioneers, the Anaconda-Pintlers and the Bitterroot, and wind racing over its open meadows can carve drifts deep enough to swallow a fence. Beaverslide haystacks wear caps of white out in those meadows, and a freshly plowed lane draws a dark line across the land. Out here a cleared road is the way to town and the way back home, and it is a fine thing to see at first light.
