About Wade

A Tunica winter morning is mostly frost and quiet — Bermuda gone tan, the fields cut to stubble, the light coming up flat over Highway 61. Wade keeps yards tidy through it: cutting things back, clearing what the wind has piled against a fence, hauling off limbs and leaves. When the ground warms again the mowing starts, week after week, with the trimmer working the mailbox post and the edge of the walk. It is plain work done plain — show up, cut it even, blow the drive clean, move on. The reward is a yard that looks cared for from the street, which in a town this size is most of the point.
