About Wade

Cassidy Bayou slides slow and brown through Sumner, and by a wet Delta June the yards beside it have grown thick and shaggy in the heat. Wade answers with a mower and a steady hand, bringing lawns in this little Tallahatchie County seat back to a level green you could rest a glass of sweet tea on. Past the last street, cotton and soybean rows run flat toward a horizon that never seems to get any closer, and a cut yard becomes a small square of order against all that open land. Porch fronts, side yards and the strip by the mailbox are trimmed tight and left neat. In a town this size, people notice when the grass is right.
