About Tate's Turf

Sturgis is a small country town in western Oktibbeha County, ringed by pasture and mixed woods. The first truly warm week of March wakes its yards in a single rush, and the brown of winter gives way to a ragged green almost overnight. Tate's Turf meets that with the year's first clean cut, then keeps the turf trimmed and even as spring gathers speed. There is something hopeful about a lawn squared up in early spring, the stripes still faint and the edge sharp along the drive. In a quiet place like Sturgis, it is a sure sign that the good months are back.
