JC's Lawn Service

About JC's Lawn Service

Saturday morning along Old Fort Bayou, the tide slips in quiet under the oaks and the whole of St. Martin smells like cut grass by nine o'clock. JC's Lawn Service is out in the middle of it — mower laying clean lines across the front, string trimmer working the mailbox and the AC pad, edger walking the curb until the seam is sharp enough to sight down. Down here the grass never truly quits; it only slows through January, then comes roaring back with the first warm rain of the year. Keeping pace with it week after week is the craft, and the reward is a yard you can stand in the driveway and admire before the heat sets in for good. Neighbors notice a straight edge even when they could not tell you that is what they are looking at.
